Monkey bread

I made monkey bread for breakfast on Saturday. All I can say is I am pleasantly surprised that I was raised with this allowed for breakfast occasionally. All it is is sugar, cinnamon, and butter mixed together and poured on dough!!!! So fabulous

Blast from the past

I'm thinking every once in a while I'll be doing a "blast from the past" post. Today's is about Gimpy the Mouse.  Let me tell you about Gimpy the Mouse.  Gimpy the Mouse was in my house (wow I should write a dr Seuss book!) while chris was out working when we lived in Albuquerque. I saw something dart quick across my living room floor. I, of course, immediately jumped up on the couch calling for help. Realizing there was none, I gained my composure, and ran over to find SOMETHING to help me. All I really wanted to do was scare it back outside (my door was open on the first floor, I know, my fault). Unfortunately, as I jumped up to get something, the mouse got scared (my original intention) in the wrong direction and darted over to under the couch.

So, grabbing a mixing bowl (the only think I could think of to capture it), I moved the couch, jumping, screaming, and running....mouse doing the same.  One time, I finally got the mixing bowl on top of him....but only sort of. I realized I had caught him by his leg! Poor thing. So THEN I had this mouse gimping around across my carpet!! With a clearly broken leg, I couldn't let him back outside!! He would die!! So, I was able to capture him much easier under the mixing bowl. obviously. So I did, and then slipped some cardboard under him, allowing me to pick him and the bowl up and keep him on my counter.

I fed him nuts and graham crackers, and gave him water in the cap of a water bottle. I also gave him a wash cloth to call home, and named him "gimpy". I kept him for long enough for his leg to recover and then took him to a big open nature place and let him go.

Loved my gimpy mouse. Scared the crap out of me though!

Us sick=her heaven

I hate being sick. And we're BOTH sick :( i think i gave it to the hubby. So we've been lounging for the past 2 days trying to get better...lots of sleeping, reading, and movies (not that I'm complaining)...not much else gets done...so it makes for one happy puppy!!

So I know everyone is having babies right now, so I decided to post a picture of my child. I mean, she's a bit furry, but she sleeps and cuddles a lot and gets really excited when I come home.

So I think that's good enough for now :)

Will I ever have another picture of me?

Probably not. But here's daddy and his baby playing on the floor. Chris has her squeaky toy under him squeakin away, while she is digging at him to try to get it.

Oh my goodness I just made this and Ohhhh my goodness.

Let me first tell you, that I still hate yogurt. Yuck. BUT I've heard all of those commercials about how she stocks the fridge with key lime pie, and black forest cake etc. (well done commercials!!), so I decided to take a chance on the key lime pie.

Oh my goodness! Strawberries, bananas and key lime pie mixed...sooooooooooo good!!!!!!!!! You should try it.

April showers bring BIRTHDAYS!

So now that 3 of us kids are married, and the fourth holds down a boyfriend, we celebrated 6 birthdays in April!!! So we got pizza and cake and had a little birthday party last night! Basically it consisted of basketball, food, and laughs (typical).

It was fun. I'm glad I'll be closer to family living in Idaho rather than Cali. Especially because I'll have a new little nephew soon!!!

We're off!!!

Well, this was on Tuesday April 19th. We drove 11 hours straight to Utah. Packed up the next day, saw family (picture to come), and took care of quick needs, and took off! We are now on the road to Idaho, where we will spend the next couple of years while hubby finishes school!

Here's to a new section of life!

Double Chinese

So hubby ordered pizza the other day. Put his name in double Chinese.

Upon pickup, he then proceeded to convince everyone working that that really was his name....

NO MORE CHEMO!!!!

The last day of chemo was April 18th!!! Last Monday really was a great day. So relieving. And the last bad/make him sick chemo was April 11. After that day, we walked in to our room to see this...Heidi had strung it up on our headboard :) loved it!!! Great celebration!!!

Chris got a blessing the day before the awful 10 hour (last one!) chemo day, and it was just the most beautiful blessing. I feel so lucky to be able to receive those, and even more lucky that chris can. Faith is sometimes hard to keep strong when you're going through hard times, but blessings really calm me and reassure me. I'm thankful for them.

So we're done!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Parrot

I swear hazel would love to be a parrot...so in the car, this position is quite common! Sitting on my shoulder, front paws on the center console. Maybe it's so she can be closer to hubby? Who knows.

Well, last round of chemo is comin up!!! Can you believe it?? LAST ROUND FOR GOOD!!! Next Monday! We are excited but also dreading :) so prayers prayers prayers por favor!!!

It's 80 and sunny here in beautiful California! Hubby is out golfing with the boys, so I took a day for myself at the beach {of course with lots of sunscreen :)}

Catching up

So I haven't been very good at keeping up on this blog, sorry!! But the 3rd round of chemo went SO well!! Chris was able to get a blessing from his dad just before he was going in AND they used a different anti-nausea medicine, and hubby literally didn't get sick!! We attribute most of it to the blessing, we feel so lucky to be able to receive those.

So this is just after chemo, a very serene beach sunset, life is good

Round 3!

Down to the last 2 rounds!! This is how many bags the hubster gets today! Poor thing! Normally it's just two, but because of the allergic reaction, they have to give it to him over a period of EIGHT HOURS! LUCKY thing gets Benadryl with it though (allergy thing)...so currently, he is happily sleeping next to me.

They're also giving him a new anti-nausea med's so this round should be a piece of cake for him.

Can I just say, he's the toughest guy around :)

So I'm sitting outside working in the beautiful sunny weather {I love my job} and I look down and there's this moving shadow on me. So I look up and this bird had landed on the chimney directly in the way of the sun

I thought it looked pretty with that bird just sitting there, so I went to snap a photo with the phone when it flew away...

Sunny weather...how I love you

I am absolutely admitting something here. I swear I have SAD. What a name for something! Seasonal {insert A word that I dont know here} DEPRESSION!! When it's not sunny out, I need loads of caffeine to perk up my day.

So California {one would think} is the best place in the world for me. The SAD thing is, it has been cold {50's} and cloudy for a long time now! Like a month!! Today, however, is beautiful!!!

Thank goodness for today. Today I do not need caffeine.

So today was a great day! Chris feels all better, the sun was shining, and we took a long drive and shared lunch at the harbor!

Hazel enjoyed the sun and windows unrolled as well!

I swear you guys, when we have babies, we will put pictures up of the babies...and RARELY pictures of the dog :). Until then, enjoy hazel :)

Work work work!

So, I know I haven't exactly done a picture for the past couple of days but it has been really crazy days!! And THIS is what I have been staring at for the past...long time.

One of my jobs is really great. It's a work from home Internet marketing job. So it is really great! Except when I've got lots of work at WH|BM and helping hubby feel better and...well mainly when life hits :)

So here is my life as of late. Lots o computer time! So sorry the posts have been sporadic. I'll be better! Even if it's just a random thought I was having that day...I'll be better!!

Poor baby

Last night poor hubby woke up with a really itchy head! Then this morning woke up with itchy bumps down his neck and shoulders!

So we got on the phone with doctors all morning (everyone was being SO slow and it was driving me crazy!!) and finally got an appointment to "wait for an opening" with a dermatologist.

Well turns out poor hubby had a pretty big allergic reaction to one of the medicines he's been on!! His lips even puffed up (my sis knows how that is hu sis?!)!

So now he's on drugs to calm it all down and he's feeling better. Bad day :( Poor guy

Oh. My. Gosh.

I could eat this literally every day. Oh, and it's made out of leftovers.

It's a recipe that chris and I made up one night when I REALLY wanted chicken tortilla soup but didn't have any of the ingredients...SO here's how we make it

Onion-about a half of a white onion-chopped (no particular size) and let those sauté in the bottom of the pot so the'll be nice and translucent.

Next throw in some chopped up garlic (however much you want. We only had 3 of those pods left so thats what we used).

Next put an entire box of chicken broth in, then fill that box up with water and pour the water in the pot so you have equal parts.

Next throw in chopped carrots (we chopped up baby carrots because it's what we had)...again...however much you want! We used almost a full small bag of the baby carrots.

Let that all boil.

In the mean time, boil some chicken so you can shred it later.

Start cooking rice (unless you have leftovers). We cooked 2 cups of rice just until it was almost done.

Then we chopped up tomatoes and green onions next (the green onions were a last minute addition because we had some left over)

Next, throw in the chopped tomatoes and green onions. Then the shredded chicken. Then throw in some frozen corn. Then the rice.

Bring it all to a boil, add seasoning...

Crunch up some tortilla chips at the bottom of your bowl, soup on top of that, sour cream, pepper jack cheese (I swear that MAKES it) over that...

....enjoy....

Exhausted

Well I missed yesterday...actually missed a couple days...BUT this is a picture to show what the weekend was like for lil hazel...

Yesterday was treatment {this was an easy one though} and Adrianne and the girls came to meet us {that always boosts chris's spirits!}. Then we got to sleep over at their house which is always fun for us but exhausting for hazel! Haha...passed from one niece to another, always being held, chased, dressed up, and rolled around in a doll crib...this puppy gets it good! Luckily, we want her to learn to be passive around kids so what better than to put her around kids??

Chris is feelin well now after a good 3-4 days of NOT fun....so we are happy to say we have successfully completed 2 of 4 chemo sessions!! Yay for half way done!!

Got a hair cut

Hazel was getting a little shaggy like...so she got a hair cut today :)

Chris wanted us to keep her fro so she still has a shaggy afro...

She looks so tiny again!!!

As I walked into my bathroom today to wash my face, I stepped on a portion of a raw hide that has been ripped into smaller portions...

...I then walked back into my room and looked at the end of the bed...this is what I saw. Tiger (the squeaker has been surgically removed by her teeth), and 2 raw hides...

...this is my life!

That's right! I'm a graduate!

My diploma FINALLY came!! After 3 years of cheering, 4 1/2 years of schooling, 1 year of independent study, and finally, a hold on my account, I officially have the paperwork!!

Oh yes, my parents are proud :)

Harbor

Seriously, I love the harbor.

It is a goal of mine to one day own a nice sail boat {we had a sail boat when I was growing up...but I'm talking about one that has an inside area, bedroom, "kitchen"- I'll even settle for a kitchenette - and living room}

So I love walking by and seeing all the big beautiful boats!!

Yesterday was beautiful!! Went to LA, did sushi lunch...worked and got off work early (wonderful!!), hubby picked me up from worn with flowers {my favorite kind!}...then a foot rub :) and we went to a movie!!!

Valentines day this year landed on a day that I work all night...so we're postponing it...

Today we went to LA to be site seer's and we found my star!! And no, I am not strategically placing my hands to cover a last name signifying that it is the star of a famous black male actor...I am simply leaning forward!

Either way, lots of pictures to come! Today was fun...and to top it off...sushi for lunch! Yum!

Today was BEAUTIFUL! No work today so we went on a long run/walk {run downhill and walk uphill...i know, i'm a slacker} and saw dolphins again! Like 6 this time!

Then we decided to do "something" and ended up driving like an hour and a half up the PCH with the windows rolled down and sunglasses on...

We finally stopped for dinner at this amazing little restaurant on the hermosa beach pier called Mediterraneano. It was all small dishes and we were there for happy hour so it was a great price!!
